Twenty 20 world cup was inaugurated in 2007 in South Africa in the month of September. The tournament was participated by 12 teams out of which 10 were the test playing nations. India and Pakistan played the first bowl out of the tournament. India won the match 3-0. Both India and Pakistan qualified for the super eight. In the super eight round though India lost its first match with New Zealand it won its other two matches with South Africa and England. As India and New Zealand had higher run rate they moved on to the semis. In the semi finals India played against Australia and won the match. New Zealand played against Pakistan and was beaten by them. Thus India and Pakistan made it to the finals. Final was a thriller which was won by India. Indians won the match by 5 runs in the last over. Thus India became the champions of twenty 20 cricket in 2007.
